Hello from Michael, Stephen, Eleanor, Josh and Jack! We’re here bringing you the latest from UK TIN, as we close out Zine Month, and look to what comes next.
We’re just a few weeks on from tabling at our first small, local convention: Paradice in Worthing. Loads of enthusiasm for the RPGs we were selling, but also for us to start a TIN chapter nearby! It would be amazing to have monthly socials running on the south coast, and we got some great recommendations for potentially viable venues. If this sounds like something you want to be a part of, please join the conversation on Discord or our other socials!
This month’s issue is a slightly strange one, as we’re mostly promoting Kickstarters with just a few days left. But we’re excited to see you for our March events too, as we take a Short Rest, and start planning for our next big convention: UK Games Expo.
Meetups & Events
The next London TIN Social is on Thursday 7th March, at The Lamb in Bloomsbury from 7pm. By then, most of us will be done with Zine Month, and ready to blow off some steam.
The following meetups are on Thursday 4th April, Thursday 2nd May, and Thursday 6th June. We’re hoping they’ll be hosted by The Arcanist’s Tavern! We’ll confirm in next month’s newsletter.
Our next Manchester TIN Social is on Saturday 2nd March, at the Wharf Pub in Castlefield, Manchester from 2:30pm to 5:30pm. Discussion will probably include figuring out the first convention for TIN North to table at - there’s a few to choose between!
Our next online TIN Talk is on Thursday 14th March, hosted via the UK TIN Discord, from 7:30pm. Steph, aka StickyHunter, will be doing a talk on art briefs, and how to achieve consistency in project art. It’s a subject she knows a great deal about from her previous project experience!
Please drop by the chat to be part of the discussion, and to propose questions for the Q&A.
Zine Month Crowdfunding
Me, the Singularity is a haunted-house-in-space RPG by Michael Duxbury (that’s me!). Players attempt to interpret the cryptic warnings of an extradimensional “ghost”, the only thing that can save them from a looming catastrophe. We’re crowdfunding to produce a beautiful zine version of the game, with graphic design from Supercircuit, creator of the visual novel our RPG is based on.
If you’d like to hear me talk more about Me, the Singularity, checkout the latest episode of This Is Your Lifepath from Kayla Dice, or episode 163 of Cafe Rolistes from The Rolistes Podcast.
Legend in the Mist is a rustic fantasy roleplaying game by Son of Oak Game Studio, based on their popular urban fantasy neo-noir game City of Mist. Brought to our attention by chief editor Eran Aviram (co-creator of Up to 4 Players and Crystal Heart, as well as a TIN Patreon backer), Legend in the Mist evokes fireside tales of unlikely heroes venturing into the perilous wilds. It’s fully funded, but there are fantastic stretch goals to be unlocked, so take a look!
Have you ever wanted to game in an actual fantasy tavern? The Arcanist's Tavern has you covered! With a board game library, RPG-themed cafe menu and even a quest board set in their own fantastical universe, the Arcanist's Tavern is a little slice of magic in the heart of Shoreditch, London. Back their Kickstarter and become part (perhaps literally) of a truly unique gaming space:
Solo TTRPG Outliers is in its last week of funding on Kickstarter!
Outliers is a game inspired by absurd and macabre media by Samantha Leigh. Fresh out of college, you take the role of a research assistant in a bizarre, absurdist, reality redefining experience. Navigate office bureaucracy, meet time travelers, bargain with eldritch beings, fetch coffee. Wipe up the slime leaking out of your keyboard and check out the Kickstarter project, running until Thursday 29th February.
Solstice, by Tanya Floaker, is a 90’s folk horror one-shot RPG that combines elements of Midsommar, Twin Peaks, and The Wicker Man (the original - not the bees). Set in Scotland in the late 90’s, the game pits player against player as you try to escape ritual sacrifice that promises the renewal of your home.
There’s only a few days left to back it on Kickstarter, or you can download a free preview on Itch.
