What an exciting month for TIN! A Diana Jones Award win for Kayla Dice, a wonderful time at Dicebreaker’s inaugural Tabletop Creator’s Summit at MCM Comic Con, and our first ever stall at UK Games Expo right around the corner.
As promised, this issue will highlight some products you’ll find us selling at the con. London TIN will be at Stand 2-352, nestled amongst some other cool indie folks, jostling for your attention. If you’re going to the convention, please come and say hi to us!
Meetups & Events
The next London Tabletop Industry Networking Meetup is this Thursday 1st June, at Escape Bar Stratford, from 7pm. Can’t say what attendance will be like for this one - a few TIN regulars will be missing it, as they’re in Birmingham setting up the UKGE stall. If you’re thinking of going, let people know through our socials, so you can be sure you won’t be the only attendee!
The following meetup is on Thursday 6th July, at the Royal Albert pub in New Cross.
After that, the following meetup is on Thursday 3rd August, at a venue TBC. (We’re going to have a look at the Little Scarlet Door, but might be priced out - we’ll confirm by next issue.)
UK Games Expo Highlights
Michael Duxbury (that’s me!) will be selling Crying Wolf, Golden Eggs, LadyBeaste, Field Trip, and PolyTheist - small RPGs of varying genres, each tailored for one-shot play. Of those, LadyBeaste is a fan-favourite, a loving homage to the movie LadyHawke. One lover turns into an animal in the day, the other turns into an animal at night. Can they break the curse that keeps them apart? An Italian digital version is also available from our friends at Campfire RPG!
W.H. Arthur will be selling Molotov College and The Sol Survivor. We covered Molotov College in our last issue; Sol Survivor is another terrific game, inspired by Chinese Mythology, about a sun that is shot from the sky, and must return to the heavens before the world is plunged into eternal darkness. Digital versions of both games, along with others, are currently available discounted as part of the Arthur quits his job sale.
Mikhail Malkin will be selling Ash Nocktem's Travelling Companions, a box of fantasy flavoured, system agnostic, character cards - each illustrated and accompanied with a backstory and plot hooks, to better fit them into your game. He’ll also be selling live sketches at the con, if you’d like an image of your character to take home to your gaming group.
The latest issue of Never Mind the Dice Rolls includes an interview with Horse Girl designer Samuel Mui, a review of Spire: The City Must Fall!, a solo-game called The Great UKGE Escape (could be useful come Sunday), along with other features. The preceding issues 20 and 19 will also be on sale.
Friend of the network Eleanor Hingley will be selling Talking Thunder and Ex Libris. The former is a correspondence analogue RPG for two players about making a secret connection in a dystopian future. The latter is a cosy solo table-top role-playing game about organising the library in a town in a heroic fantasy world.
Last but by no means least, friend of the network Marx Shepherd will be selling a loud noise in a quiet place, a story game about temporary hearing loss. It’s a condition they’re sometimes subjected to, and Marx describes it as isolating, frustrating, joyless, and often painful… whilst also giving rise to moments of emotional connection, deep understanding, unexpected joy, and tender empathy. This is as true for the people around them as it is for themself.
Whilst these are the games we’ll have on the TIN stall, you’ll find plenty of TIN members selling their wares elsewhere in the hall. I’ll certainly be making a stop to the SoulMuppet booth, where I believe Kayla Dice and Laurie O’Connel both have games on sale.
We hope folks who make it to UKGE find something they’re excited by on our stall; and that those not attending can find something just as exciting at the webstores linked above!
